Lonia is an AGE Africa Scholar from Milonga CDSS. At a young age, she lost her father forcing her mother to pay for her and her four siblings on her own as a smallholder farmer. Lonia quickly ran into issues paying for her schooling as business went up and down. This combined with a difficultly long walk to school When she was chosen as an AGE Africa scholar, she was finally able to go to school regularly!
Now that she is able to cover her school fees, notebooks, and uniform costs, she has been able to focus on school, with a dream of becoming a nurse one day. She says that AGE has helped her to stay in school, delaying getting married or having a child, which has helped her to pursue her goals.
