Olivia is a Form 4 student at Mchinji Mission Community Day Secondary School who dreams of becoming a Chief Systems Analyst.

In her quest for success, Olivia joined CHATS (Creating Healthy Approaches to Success) after being inspired by AGE Africa’s pitch day at her school. CHATS focuses on developing girls’ agency and is having a profound impact on Olivia’s life. She has gained confidence, leadership skills, and a strong work ethic, resulting in improved academic performance. During the All Scholars Retreat in Mchinji, she caught the attention of a Member of Parliament for Mchinji District Olivia’s accomplishments prompted the MP to praise AGE Africa and encourage us to continue empowering girls.

The impact of CHATS extends beyond Olivia. The headteacher of Mchinji Mission CDSS praises the program for positively influencing students’ performance, discipline, and enthusiasm for learning. In fact, he credits CHATS with significantly reducing the school dropout rate due to pregnancy.

Olivia’s story is a testament to the transformative power of education and the CHATS program. With determination and support, she is paving the way for a brighter future for herself and her family.
