Let’s CHATS Radio Program

In light of Malawi's response to COVID-19 restrictions, which closed schools for six months and banned in-person gatherings, AGE Africa transitioned its CHATS (Creating Healthy Approaches to Success) programming to a radio format that reaches a broader audience throughout Malawi. AGE Africa hosts AGE Africa alumnae and local female experts in education, health, and business as guests on our program, while listeners call or text the radio hotline with questions about the episode's content. Listeners hear directly from their peers and women role models who deliver critical content on careers, life planning, sexual and reproductive health.

The main objective of this program, like in-person CHATS, is to increase knowledge in life skills centered on self-awareness and assertiveness, leadership, sexual and reproductive health, gender and human rights amongst adolescent girls and young women. The interventions provide the tools adolescent girls need to self-advocate for their own life choices and make healthy decision making.
